Dirt 2 Review

Dirt 2 is an off road racer done the right way with a touch of spunk. The game has some challenging off road maps that are set up to get you down and dirty. Dirt 2 takes you across the world from the downtown streets of Tokyo to the mud filled land of Morocco. It has a variety of cars, maps, and race types to keep you entertain for many hours. This off road racer is great to own because of its detailed presentation, online game play, and sheer fun of each track.

The game has a beautiful presentation that keeps you wanting to see more. Watch as your car hits walls, does flips, and causes a 5 car pile up at any given moment. The race tracks all have their own unique flavor and it’s easy to recognize what part of the world you are in during each races. The cars are constantly taking beatings and watching your car’s bumper or door flying off during races can add for some cool details. The instant reply at the end of each match is nothing new, but is integrated into the game prefect.

Dirt 2’s online game play is filled with hours of enjoyment. You can level just like you do in the games tour mode by gaining experience in each race. Online racing is broken down into two categories. One being ranked and unranked matches that let you pick from a variety of games like last man standing, rally races, contact, and non-contact races. The subsequent being the ability to race in 1 to 4 man teams. Every racer level is displayed before each race and stats can be compared. The game keeps track of cool stats like how many miles you have driven all time to how many times you have flipped and rolled over.

The off road vehicles come in a lot of different styles and ways of playing. Dirt 2 contains two door cars, trucks, and even buggies. Each vehicle is broken down in their statistics by top speed, acceleration, and driving ability. Cars are unlocked as you gain money and level during the single player tour mode. There are three X Games from around the world that you can compete in as you unlock at certain levels. The game rewards you by adding extras details to your car and giving you money for each race won. The money is used to buy different types of cars, trucks, or buggies.

Dirt 2 is a great sequel to its predecessor. It’s a fun off road racer that keeps you wanting to race over and over again. With the level system in place and some good friends to keep you company this is a game with a potential of many hours of game play. Dirt 2 is everything you would want in an off road racer without taking it over the top.
