Activision’s DJ Hero is the next phase of the plastic revolution of rhythm games to invade our living rooms.
Activision took a huge step in the right direction with the expanding of its "Hero" brand of rhythm games. DJ Hero does a fantastic job of mimicking what a real DJ does while making it fun and interesting as a video game. The game is about the music and man does this soundtrack absolutely blow you away. There are 93 original mixes created from 102 hit songs. You will find yourself doing certain DJ moves like scratching, mixing, and sampling certain sound effects during game play.
DJ Hero starts off with the learning of basics by doing a simple tutorial that is made fun with Grand Master Flash. Once you knock out the simple tutorial, you can start unlocking new songs or battle online in versus mode. The game includes an array of difficulty levels, but only when playing on expert does the game feel like the real thing.DJ Hero follows a very basic path of unlocking new songs by playing each set of songs to earn stars. While playing you cannot be booed off the stage, so basically it works on a 5 star system that grades your ability to DJ.
Like Guitar Hero, DJ Hero has certain periods of the game where you can use a power up if you hit the correct buttons at the right time. The games feels authentic when it is time to scratch the turntable and cross fade between two tracks. If you get a nice streak going the game gives you the option to rewind a track about 5 seconds back by spinning the turntable backwards in a full spin. This will give you a bonus of extra points to get stars. DJ Hero is also compatible with a guitar and the turntable at the same time. The online game play features multiplayer, leaderboards, matchmaking, voice chat and trophies for the PSN.
To finish, DJ Hero belongs with its class of rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band 2. This game has a variety of styles of music like hip hop, rock, old school, and techno. Look forward to music by Jay-z, Eminem, 2 Pac, Beck, Tiesto, Black Eyed Peas and much more. DJ Hero does what it sets out to do by turning you into a DJ in your very own living room. If you ever wondered what it felt like to be a DJ than this game is definitely for you.
Replay Value- Great, The online multiplayer is a lot of fun and with the ability to buy new songs this game should be around for a long time.
