Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is an absolute master piece from beginning to the end.It has filled all my hopes and dreams to a certain degree. The game has so many powerful clips that it felt more like a movie than a game. The story is delivered in such magnitude that it makes it very hard to put down the controller once you grasp what is going on. This final installment in the Metal Gear franchise will not disappoint you because it has so many twists in the plot it literally keeps you at the edge of your seat.

You start the game has Solid Snake in the final years of his life. In a war that is base off of money and greed, but the game turns out to be a whole lot more than just war. The characters in this game can really make you feel emotionally attached to them, to the point that I just wanted to cry at times. If you have never played a Metal Gear game its ok, the story is so well played that it will still make sense if you are a virgin to the series because of the back tracking the game does within its own stories about mid way through.

The games action can take you from a motorcycle scene where you are on the back shooting at enemy players on the road to a PS1 remake level of a past Metal Gear game. The level of detail that was put into this game is one that makes it an instant classic right out the box. The game plays to your style of choice, Kojima did a great job of mixing up the game to be tactical, but also run and gun at times. The weapons are plentiful and the close quarter combat is well implemented in a tactical sense. Metal Gear 4 adds a ton of extras like playboys, songs of past metal gear music and citrates. Almost all the guns are customizable and you can gain new weapons by purchasing them, so spending your money wisely affects what weapon you can use at any given point in the game.

There is also an online mode that brings all the basic mechanics from the single player. The one bad thing about playing online is that you have to go to a web site and sign up to play. I found that a bit annoying and unnecessary. The online game is fun, but at times feels like an extra add on that was done at the last minute. The single player story is so great that it really over shadows the online component.

Metal Gear 4 is a game that is a must own for any PS3 owner, It really shows what the system can do when it comes to memory management and graphics. Kojima’s story telling really jumps out of the screen and makes you feel like you are in the game. If you have not added Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to your collection please consider at because it is a game that is an experience all gamers should play through at least once.

Graphics-Great, the cinematic's are a notch above the rest and at times I felt like I was watching a movie. The characters really come to life.

Controller- Great, feels natural for a tactical shooter.

Online Play-Online component is solid, but feels added on as an extra side note at times.
